I'm not a rich doctor...but

this year I have only worked about 4 months due to companies cutting back on the use of consultants (wife is still working so financially we are stable). Still, I am enjoying the time off. Not having to stress out over SEC reporting deadlines is the best part about not having to work.

I sure hope being 51 is middle age. It won't be until I am 75 before I can retire. It is then my kids will be out of college. lol

Whew! Someone explain THAT post to me???

I'm not a rich doctor either. But I am a doctor and I have a lot of time and money invested in my chosen career. The term "rich doctor" implies that none of us work too hard for our financial rewards.

You have one thread where you applaud your early retirement and another where you gripe about your dental bills.

Before you categorize people with your misconceptions about our chosen professions I suggest you do some research into both the time and financial commitment instead of jumping to conclusions.

I think you will find John was being sarcastic and just poking a little fun with the title of his thread.

Please don't feel you are alone, I get beat up all the time. I do appreciate the time and effort my medical people have expended to find ways to keep me going. I take their commitment very seriously. She has worked very hard to
get where she is too.

Lighten up doc. You are not the only that is proud of their profession and puts up with a lot stuff being poked at them. Some of it by doctors too. I was just trying to point something out in innocence but if you want to get Holier Than Thou, well physician heal thyself.

To all of the doctors on the board:

Thanks for being a Dr. Thank you for studying harder in school than most people can imagine. Thank you for taking on more student loan debt than most people can imagine. Thank you working longer hours than most people can imagine during you residency. Thank you for your compassion. Thank you for being a small bussinessman and taking on every headache associated with it.

You earn every penny of your pay.

I think I should probably shut up before I get shut down -- or worse!

The title of this post was intended as an indirect reply to an earlier thread that complained about people who think that doctors are rich. My other comment was not intended as a gripe about my dental bills, but was intended as a tongue in cheek response to a similarly toned thread. (The first thread complained about patients who thought all doctors must be rich, while the second thread complained about patients who appeared to have/spent more money than the person thought they should.)

My comments in both instances were apparently misunderstood. Sorry.
