Zug Bug Softhackle

A different take on a vintage pattern; all the parts are there, just in a different format.

hook - WFC Model 6 #10
thread - Danville 6/0 brown
tag - tinsel silver
tail - peacock swords
rib - small wire silver
body - peacock herl
body hackle - brown
1st shoulder - mottled hen
2nd shoulder - mallard flank

nice tie as usual

I tie a slightly different version of that same pattern. I call it an easy zug bug. it out fished all of my other caddis nymph imitations 3 to 1 last year . the pattern is as follows

hook: size 14 lightning strike jf2
bead: 3/32 tungsten, slotted, silver
thread: 8/0 fire orange
tail: 3-6 peacock swords
rib: medium silver French wire
abdomen: peacock herl
hackle: speckled brown

it has worked better under an indicator than swung as a soft hackle
