At the Michigan Fish-In I picked up an ODC 816 'toon from Joe V. I spent a couple of hours on Wakely Lake in calm conditions to feel it out and have to make some changes. The fixed seat made it difficult to get to the rear platform. There is no rod storage or anchor system.
I’ve replaced the fixed seat with a swivel seat and am looking for ideas on rod storage and anchor systems (home made!).
I’ll be using it on the local rivers which will be a new experiance for me so any advice will be accepted gladly.
I’ll also be car topping so will need some help with this too.
This is going to be one great summer!!
Jack,
Here’s a start…wander around that website …I think there is more…
Hey Jack Congrats on the new boat. I have been paddeling quite a bit this year and am still looking forward to meeting up with you and Ohiotuber at some point. As far as an anchor system for the toon is concerned, mine came with a mesh bag that you fill with rocks and attach via a rope and small pulley to the back or side of the frame. It works pretty well and is very light when you empty the rocks out.
Happy paddling.
Jack, congrats. I have the same toon. You can mount a couple of the small Scotty rod holders on the flat spot where the tubes intersect just behind your elbows. We just use heavy zip ties thru the bolt holes. should hold up for several seasons. Enjoy and good luck
Mike
