Your favorite excuse?

Full moon
No moon
High water
Low water
Too cold
Too hot
High Wind
No Wind
Too clear
Too turbid
Too early
Too late
No hatch
Big hatch
Too fast
Too slow

Take your pick.

When I’m not catching trout,
any excuse is as good as any other.

Strangely

I’ve never met an angler who had an excuse for his success.

No experience.

The fish all had lockjaw.

My fly hit the water with the force of a concrete block being dropped out of an airplane.

Jeff

I should have been here yesterday

Mark

Stupid fish! :stuck_out_tongue:

“I should have been fishing, next week”

D@mned trees…

  1. The real definition of “FAIR” fishing in the newspaper report= Crappy
  2. It was a Full Moon.
  3. A Storm just blew through.
  4. I Should Have Been Here Last Week.
  5. The Fish Are Smarter Than Last Year.
  6. It’s a Message from the Department of Fish & Game, that they have it in for me (I’ve fished this spot for 30 years and there is no sign of life)
  7. I’m having one of those years.
  8. I knew that I should have hired a Guide.
  9. Somebody upstairs doesn’t like me.
  10. I put all my eggs in one basket, by not having a second hobby to fall back on, like Golf LOL
    Doug

the fish have already been fed!

I was just wetting the line and didn’t care if I caught anything.

Not my line but the favorite one I heard.

Sean

Ignorance…simple ignorance. I fish so I have an excuse to drink whiskey out of a flask.:p:p If a fish actually gets on the line I panic, then take a pull from the flask to calm my nerves.

Darn Bait Fishermen! (always try to blame someone else if possible)! 8T

Should have been here yesterday!

They started generating at 7am instead of 8…

Too much sun on a hot summer day.
Too little sun on a cold winter day.

Should have been here last week.

“It’s not about catching fish. It’s just getting out on the water. Besides it doesn’t matter any way since I practise “catch and release” any way.”

OK OK this isn’t neccessarily an excuse but if it is it’s “truthful”!!!

 Just as I cast my flyline, the earth’s tectonic plates shifted and caused my fly to drag ! That’s my story and I’m sticking to it !

The fishes have all gone early to the warmer countries this year.
I’l be back next spring when they come back.

I thought I knew what I was doing.
