Thanks for posting this Mark. It’s too bad that to most Americans, Memorial Day is the first three day weekend of summer and nothing more. Except maybe a big sale at one of the local big box stores, or car dealerships.
It’s also too bad that in order to honor those who have served, sacraficed and died for freedom have to be honored ahead of Memorial Day, so as not be lost amoung the hot dogs and beer.
Oh. And no I’m not bitter.
It brought a tear to my eye…thanks Mark!

The day and it’s meaning is not lost here.
Stay tuned for our Memorial Week issue.

Thanks Marco.
God bless those two Vets and every other Vet who is or has served us in the military. They suffered so those of us back home wouldn’t have to.
They are the best of the best!
Happy Trails!

And to think that at least 13 posters saw this thread since it was posted and chose to ignore it.
Trust me, It is not I who seek recognition as much as this post in itself demands it.

Marco,
GREAT picture!
As most of you know, I think this site & my FAOL family members are the best…not just as flyfishers, but as Patriots who so fully & openly support our troops, past & present.
God Bless & thank you all…your support gives strength!
Mike
Ditto … words can’t express our thanks to these “best of the best”.

Sometimes we look and don’t post because theres nothing one can say about our heroes that the picture doesn’t convey .Its hard to speak when you see something so overwhelming. There is allot of posts I don’t comment on as the father of a son serving in the army because of how fickle some politically correct people are in this world. For the sake of peace and respect for LF and JC and others I try to keep my tongue and comments to myself . Nothing but pride, respect and honor for our great service men ,veterans of past and present and our fallen.
Mike
I am one who looked and did not post.It is a very moving photo, especially to me as the proud father of a US Marine, but I have seen this pic a thousand times.
Bill
I saw it, was moved by it, and moved on. I did not see the need to post. I make no apology for that.
Perhaps more accurately, I was just curious that those who posted in other topics in this forum chose to ignore or not comment I did not mean those who merely opened and chose to do whatever ( ignore).
Personally, I too saw this picture a thousand times. EACH of those thousand times was by choice.
Silly me.

PS: To give proper and much deserved credit, this photo was attached to a “farewell” column by Ben Stein in which he chose to show his eternal gratitude to THOSE who have died and are dying in the cause of freedom.

Hey Marco,
Yes, it is a moving picture. I believe
I can appreciate what it represents without
comment. I’m sure others can too. What
bothers me is that you feel the need to
count how many folks fail to respond to it.
We all respond in different ways. Many of us here on FAOL are veterans. Some of us
carry our own scars and memories. I would
not judge folks by thier failure to post a
comment on a picture. Warm regards, Jim
Marco;
You judge to harshly.
I also have opened this thread before, multiple times in fact. I have not commented, because I cannot add to what has been said, and I dare not take away from it.
The image and the message it portrays bring tears of joy, sadness, gratitude, etc… I am grateful to those who have/do/will serve. I let them know when I can. That is enough.

A picture is worth a thousand words.
Thanks Mark.
The photo never showed up on my screen…
Sometimes a picture really does say a thousand words.
A bum-legged old man and a drunk. That’s all you got?
That’s WHAT I got.
As a veteran of my own little countrys wars I feel that I don’t need to comment.I fought tooth and nail and lost many close friends and some of my own humanity for democracy and I get a little sensitive when someone tries to force my freedom of choice!Sorry for that!I’ll post when and what I want(within the rules of course)thank you very much!Apologies to all for the tone of this post it’s just something I feel strongly about.
crooks…well said.
