Yellow Baronet

Thought I would take up tying classic flies. Here is my first attempt …

… at photographing one.

The fly was tied by Bruce Staples of Idaho Falls.

It will be auctioned at the East Idaho Fly Tying and Fishing Exposition in a couple weeks. For the roster of fly tyers demoing at the Expo, click on the link. Several FAOL BB members will be tying, and several more will be in attendance.

REE - Bruce is one guy you want to meet while you are here.

Hi,

Nice fly, and photography of course. You know, I bet a simplified version of that, tied smaller (say size 10 or 12), would be a killer brook trout fly.

Too bad I won’t be able to make it to the expo. :(We were going to do Yellowstone, then I realized how cold it would still be with a baby to carry around. So we’re doing Grand Canyon/Sedona area instead.

John,

You had me going there for a minute. I almost called VEE in to ogle your first full dress Atlantic Salmon fly…then read more.

I’ll be sure to look him up at the show. We’re going to be staying at the Shilo Inn during the show so there won’t be much travel involved. I also intend to hit Jimmy’s Fly Shop in town, even though there will be stuff at the show from the shop. Nothing loosens up the pursestrings like a well stocked fly shop.

My UK friend, Roy Christie, won’t be able to make the show as planned, but there are enough people we know through FAOL (plus the South Fork) that make the trip worthwhile. (The free lunch is the big draw though.)

gotcha !!!

Nice photography John. You got me with that one. That is a pretty fly though.

Reminds me of the time I drove to Grand Canyon, camped at one of the south rim camp
grounds I think it was…about this time in April
too…17 degrees the first night.

Cheers,

You got me too! :stuck_out_tongue:
I was getting ready to tell you what a GREAT job you did on that salmon fly…and then I read below the picture.

Anyway, the PICTURE turned out really nice!
