Xuron Vise returns

It appears that the old Xuron vise is still available. I owned one many years ago

Anyone else tie on the old Xuron? The stem swiveled on the base like the old floor shifts on cars

That brings back memories. Back in the early 80’s a friend had a Xuron and let me test drive; I was going to buy one to replace my Thompson Model A but the local shop had problems getting them and I ended up buying a Regal instead. No regrets there but those Xuron’s sure were sleek looking.

Interesting. I’m not sure how they will sell in today’s market. Here’s mine along with some other vises from that era.

Yes. Left to right; Price vise, Price Jr., Xuron, Polly Rosborough vise.

I’ve never seen that Rosborough vise before. Very interesting vise. I’m very surprised that more vise makers didn’t use the clamp configuration thats on it. Many times I’ve been in a situation where my vise’s C-clamp didn’t fit the table. I do have a pedestal, but prefer the clamp. That Rosborough clamp looks like the ultimate clamp! Thanks for sharing!

I still have my Xuron!

Although Jim Deren at the Angler’s Roost made of point of telling me it was really called, “The Angler’s Roost Vise” although mine came from The Bedford Sportsman, Peter Phelps’ shop.

It’s still a good vise.

This Vise was originally called the Thomas vise and I do believe that it was manufactured befor the Thompson A vise. I believe it was mid to late 1930’s that the Thomas vise first made it’s debut.

I had 3 of them. Another interesting thing about them is that the name does not appear anywhere on the vise.

The Thomas vise had a decal on the c-clamp.
