Wyoming Renegade SBS

Don’t know who came up with this Humpy variation on the original but it’s a cool fly.

thread - Danville 6/0 black
butt - Danville 6/0 red
tail/shellback - deer hair
abdomen - peacock herl
rib - tying thread
hackle - grizzly

Part 1

mash barb, start thread at 2/3 mark, wrap halfway down bend and create a bump, brush with Sally

clean, stack, measure ( gap width past bend) a small clump of deer hair; tie in, fold butts back over tail, half hitch/trim thread

start black thread, create a loop and wrap to tail

tie in peacock; twist/wrap to 2/3 mark, tie off/trim

slight twist to deer hair, pull forward; tie down/trim buts

rib body; tie off/trim

Part 2

Awesome. Has a great combination of fish-attracting components.

Thanks,
Ed

Amazing how you find new patterns, Scott. Very nice tie, as always. This one must be a guide pattern considering its simplicity. Nice general attractor and a heck of lot faster to tie than say the Royal Wulff. Thanks!

Wyoming Renegade II

Scott

Scott, nice work on that one, way better than my work, for sure. Thanks for the SBS, those help for us that struggle with the fly tying addiction. but have few fly tying skills. Take care, John.

Really nice ties!

John,

Been there, not all that long ago. Tie every day that you can, even if it’s only one fly; learn thread control and proportions and everything else will fall into place.

Scott
