I wanted to tie some of the Cripple Caddis flies. However, I don’t have the proper zelon/antron winging material.
Wonder if this will work - the old fashioned way?

Byron that will work, no doubt… Here’s another little trick I use for this fly. Oversize the hackle by a couple of sizes, for instance a #12 hackle on a #16 hook, trim the bottom and sides as you wish but leave the top… easy to see and it still lies flat in the water… TL, Dougie.
