Hi all. On my way home from church today, some guy on the radio was talking about Willie Nelson, and when he said the name, it sounded like “Wooly Nelson”, so that started the idea…

Hope you enjoy it!!

The Recipe:

Hook: Size 8 streamer
Bead: Gold Bead, appropriate to size of hook
Thread: UNI Camel 8/0
Tail: Root Beer Marabou
Body: Hemp cord (appropriately!! :lol: )
Thorax: Peacock Ice Dub
Palmer Hackle: Root Beer Hen Hackle
Throat Hackle: Speckled Guinea

You’ve got to find somewhere to include a red bandana or at least something red towards the head of the fly. Maybe a red bead instead of gold. You know, Willie always wears that dang bandana! 8)

Where’s the white? If you look at Willie’s face and head you will see a lot of white.

industrial hemp and marijuana are both varieties of cannabis sativa. But are grown much differently, and the end product is obviously very different.

Willie Nelson has an affinity for one type, the wooly nelson is partially constructed of the other. Midnight epiphanies sometimes work sometimes not. :lol:
