Haven’t been around much here lately because I’ve spent most of the past week here up on Woodward for the pre cruise action the week leading up to the 21st and then the cruise itself on Saturday. Absolute best week of the year IMO, for a gearhead like me there’s nothing better than having 35,000 hot rods/muscle cars all packed into a 16 mile stretch of road like happens for the Dream cruise. Her’s a video I put together of all the action over the past week. Enjoy.
Some cool cars, why could I tell what the model years of those but have no idea what the model year of any of my neighbors’ cars?
That was really cool. Those Batmobiles made me laugh, but I found my biggest smiles came with the '55, '56 & '57 Chevys. Thanks for sharing.
I know it’s not politically correct in these times of high gas prices, oil spills and such, but there is just something about the rumble of a heavily cammed, gas guzzling V-8 that is so appealing to me. Like Joe, the '55, '56 and '57 Chevys made my day along with a few others from the same era. Love a '57 2 door Bel Aire.

Speaking of 57 Chevy 2dr Bel Aire ( powder blue) , had one back in 60’ BUT the with the POWERGLIDE transmission. Hardly a spedster SOOOO I converted it to a stick shift with “three on the floor”. THAT was the beginning of it’s condition downfall. I make NO claim to be a Chip Foose and this car proved it. My girlfriend, who is now my wife, met a 12" pipe sticking out of the ground and tore it’s underside, oil pan, bell housing, mufflers and othe assorted necessaries for locomotion right off. She then dissapeared for a few days until I finally cornered her in Church and promptly forgave her. THAT was in about 61’ and is probably why we are still happily married ( 67’) to this day. I know, it’s a tender , tear jerking story but…

PS: AND , as I’m sure Mr. Foose would approve, I painted the “wings” detail with alternate red stripes. Cooooooooolllllllll Like Uncle Jesse, I once could tell ya the year and model of any car just by hearing it’s starter sound but now, I don’t even know the exact year of my own cars.
Sweet cars!!! Thanks for the video

I lived two blocks off of Woodward near 13-1/2 Mile Road. Our cruise parties were a blast. The first two cruises, before the cops and advertising people grabbed it, were out-and-out cool! At Dugins they had a full blown dragster out front and fired it up from time to time.
We would line rods 'em up three abreast, slick up the pavement then drop the flag for some hellacious burn-outs!
Great stuff that cruise. Thanks for the revue.
I went to the Woodward Cruise way back in 'ought- Four when I was living in Detroit. Pretty good time and some spectacular cars.
I forgot, some people were pouring liquid around the tires for burn-outs, was it rubbing alcohol?
Although I’ve never been to a “Woodward cruise” , I have been to the Fox(?) theater back in the late 50’s. Besides the movie experience, I recall my first taste of Vernors Ginger Ale. Had relatives in Hamtramick when it was still politically correct to call it “safe”. I hear one can buy an acre near the Fox Theater now and plant corn and soybeans in what was once downtown.
