A large body of thought in the tying community believe wings are a trigger for trout strikes since the wing tips are the first thing seen entering the trout’s window of vision.

The first fly tying video I ever bought was by Shane Stalcup, a talented young tyer who died at a young age. The one fly I remember the best from that video was similar to yours, but he used the mallard flank in front of the deer hair to present a more mottled effect. Funny what you remember.

I almost always put a little wood duck or mallard flank into the front of CDC comparaduns to provide some definition/structure.
Pretty tie. I have seen the wood duck added into the stacker with the deer hair which also makes a nice tie. I think your version gives a slightly more distinctive wing
