Wind knot hard rolls

Sorry but I love to eat. I’ve been cooking up these hard rolls all summer. When it’s too hot in the house, I move the cookin’ from the oven to the gas grill outside. Your choice.
5 cups flour
2 tps salt
1tbls yeast
1 3/4 cup warm water
1 egg beat w/1tbls water
poppy seeds topping
Combine the essentials, knead 8 minutes, and let rise covered with a towel for an hour.
Punch down the dough, knead for a couple of minutes, and divide into 8 equal pieces.
Form the rolls and place on an oiled baking sheet and let rise 1/2 hr. covered with the towel, then brush with the egg wash and sprinkle with the seeds, bake in the oven or grill with a pan of water 1/2 " deep underneath to make plenty of steam during baking.
450deg. about 15 to 18 mins.

Yum!

Here I thought you were going to talk about a problem with roll casting and wind knots…:stuck_out_tongue:

They look good enough to eat,

Steve

I don’t know how indescribably delicious they are with peanut butter and jelly! (you and the kid’s favorite)You can be the judge, but most people I serve them to like 'um.
You won’t believe what a hamburger is like nestled between the two half’s, or ham or, tuna and egg salad or…whip some up and see for yourself. This is elementary baking. Something to pass on to the kids.

ok hairwing don’t be posting pictures of food in front of a fat guy unless your cooking for him!

I can take the challenge! You’d like my food. I do all the cookin’ at my place. BYOB.

some how I don’t doubt your own statement at all… maybe we can hook up fishing sometime, and do some dutch oven or something.

Hairwing,
You need to send this to the LadyFisher. This needs to go in the “What’s Cookin’” section so I can find it this winter!

Looks great, but it’s just to hot to fire up the oven. Not sure how it would go on the Charcoal grill.

Kirk

C4OC,
I’m sure you could bake these on a charcoal grill. I hav’nt done it but used to bake pizza pies all the time. Try an indirect fire with a can with some water in it to make steam below the grill. I put tin foil under the pan to reflect heat off the bottom so I don’t burn things before the top is nicely browned. Take the chance! Good luck.
