Does anybody know this fly?

I am searching for anything on that fly. What species is it used for? I do believe I have heard of it but can’t find it again.

In a book titled “Flies” by J. E. Leonard on page 255 Leonard list a fly called “William’s Favorite”.
Recipe: Tail: Black Hackle Fibers; Body: black floss with gold rib; Hackle: Black; Wing: none listed. Hook size not listed.
