William Joseph Mini II?

Anybody have one? I just got one and haven’t had the chance to use it yet. I’ll use it for warmer weather fishing, but it’s been too hot to even go fishing.

Let me guess, uh, it’s a vest?

J.C. my guess would be childrens asprin.

Well done dleo!

Now that the smarties have had their say, is there anyone out there who does have the Mini II?

kewl, it’s a rocket, huh?

JC…it’s pretty easy to see that it is a saddle!!! looks like it might fit a shetland…lol

not a bad item but I like the Fishpond better, seems roomier and easier to work with when standing in the river…

Kind of like our house when we first moved in, it has storage that I don’t quite know what to do with.

dleo- I’ve found, in the matter of purses, fly tying kits and other such carry-alls, that the bigger it is, the more stuff you will put into it. When a vest weighs more than a refrigerator, it’s time to re-assess your needs. So I got a pack that WON’T hold a canned ham.

So- still looking to chat with someone who has one.

lol, seems real popular,

Sorry flyangler - don’t have a William/Joseph, but do love my Wright & McGill. Hard to convince me to use a vest now. (does kinda look like a yoke harness for a working dog)

Live each day as if it were your last, some day you’ll be right!

Not really a big fan of WJ. They dangled us around for a long time, swearing they were going to support us very soon. We even did a product review for them. After several months they then told us they could not afford to support FAOL after all. Hope they have a nice day.

Fllyangler, glad you are good sport, we mean no harm. I too surcumbed to a “modern” fly fishing vest. I dropped into the Golden Drake fly shop in Pinkney, Michigan and purchased a Clear Creek Bailey Ford vest. I have been using it this summer and find it fits very well, drys fast and does the job. The only thing I am not fond of is the color. Golden Bronze should be olive drab as far as I am concerned. At $45.00 I thought it was a good value.

I got the moss green one. As the photo of the pink one shows, this pack has no back! Just a padded, ventilated strap with a net ring that goes behind your neck. The strap continues thru the pack and then hooks around your waist. You can also run your wader belt through it.

I do like that rust color. It coordinates nicely with olive. Hey, at least it’s not pink!

JC- sorry to hear of your troubles with the manufacturer. I hope I’m not stepping on any toes asking for owner feedback.

Nope, readers always rank highest…

flyangler,

Ok, I’ll bite. I won one lastyear & used it for the first time this past weekend. I just wound the waist strap around the bottom and carried it like a purse. It won’t hold a ham but I did jam three fly boxes in it along with a couple rolls of tippit, nippers & the like. Just set it on the bank as I fished from shore. I have a couple of chest packs but feel real restricted when wearing one.

In the summer months I just stuff what I think I’ll need into my pockets and hope for the best. In cooler weather I’ll wear a vest.

I will however carry it as I did last weekend or maybe thread it onto my belt like a fanny pack and give another try. I was impressed however as to how much it held.

Anybody heard of the …Woods Bag?

If I can’t fit it in to a pocket, it doesn’t go. No vest or fanny-nanny or chest-of-drawers or straight jacket with pouches. Pockets only. You usually don’t need all that ‘stuff’ for the time you will be on the water.

JC’s right. I have a tackle box I carry on the boat that’s no less than a full stocked tackle store (bait casting stuff), that I haven’t opened in 5 years on the water. I operate out of a small plano tackle tray I keep a few popular mirro-lure colors, assorted spoons, & soft plastics.

Yes, I do throw other stuff besides flies. Point is I believe we all carry way too much stuff.

Interesting J.C. that is my usual mode of carrying fishing gear. Grab a fly box, some tippet material, floatant and stuff them in the shirt pocket. My vest for the most part over the years stays in the truck. And of course, all ten pockets of the new vest are full. I suppose if I had a 88 pocket vest, that would be full too.

I learn more about the world while talking to myself when fishing alone
