Wile E Muddler SBS

Tried to keep it to one animal, but the head had me stumped; coyotes eat deer so that sorta closes the loop. Weight, either wrapped shank/conehead optional.

hook - TMC 5623 6
thread - UTC 140 tan
tail - coyote tail
body - coyote underfur
undercollar - coyote guard hairs (debating whether this is really necessary since it gets covered by the deer hair)
collar/head - mule deer spun/clipped

Part 1

mash barb, start thread at 2/3 mark, wrap back to bend

cut out some coyote tail, even tips, measure (shank length), tie in, trim, cover with thread

create a loop, insert underfur, spin, wrap body

give it a good scrubbing (velcro’d popsicle stick here)

Part 2

cut out some more fur from the tail, even tips, measure (tips to hook point), loose wrap to allow it to encircle hook; tie down/trim

clean, stack, measure (tips to hook point) a clump of deer, tie in with 2 soft loops, spin; pack

trim tips of another clump, repeat; half hitch x 2, SHHAN

Part 3

flip fly over, set razor blade on hook eye and push straight back

rough cut

final trim
