Wilcox LGM (variation) SBS

Didn’t have any micro tubing in purple, as per the original, so I subbed some Sexi-floss; fish didn’t care. Easy to tie - chartreuse, red, pheasant tail, black, tan abdomens are killer, too (change wire/thorax as needed).

hook - Dai Riki 060 #18
thread - MFC 6/0 purple
rib - 34 ga. wire purple
tail - pheasant tail
abdomen - Sexi-floss purple
wing buds - Congo Hair white
thorax - Ice Dub UV brown
shellback/wingcase - medium tinsel pearl (coat with UV Knotsense - optional)
bead - 1/16" copper

Part 1

mash barb, slide bead on hook

tie in rib, wrap to bend

measure (shank length) a few pheasant fibers; tie in

tie in Sexi-floss (split the strand with a needle and used 1/2 width to keep bulk down; for larger flies you can use the whole); wrap to bead, tie off/trim

counterwrap rib; helicopter end/tie down

tie in shellback/wingcase

tie in CH mid-thorax (like a spinner wing)

Part 2

dub thread/dub thorax (cross wing tie-in top and bottom)

pull tinsel forward; tie off/trim, whip finish

trim wing buds

cover tinsel with UV product (only had the wader repair stuff; Knotsense thicker?)

Hot beads and zebras were okay, but the LGMs (Little Green Machine) worked really well here the past few days

Scott

Very nice once again Scott! Looks awesome out there as well.

Here’s one tied with olive micro tubing/wire, a true Green Machine

Scott,

That VW pattern is one of my favorites…I have also been tying them on Daiichi 1130 hooks. They have taken a lot of Trout for me, over the years, here in the Sierras…

PT/TB

Is that the San Juan?

No; it’s a tailwater in central, MT.
