Wilcox AC Caddis variation SBS

A few changes to the original pattern - subbed Congo Hair for the shuck since I didn’t have any midge braid and added the tinsel underbody to give it a bit of a glow. BTW, AC stands for Anything Caddis; change size/colors to suit your needs.

hook - Dai Riki 125 #14
thread - MFC 8/0 sand
shuck - Congo Hair tan
underbody - opalescent tinsel
abdomen - midge tubing tan
underwing - Midge Krystal Flash pearl
wing - deer hair bleached
thorax - dubbing tan
hackle - grizzly

Part 1

mash barb, start thread, tie in CH at 2/3 mark, fold, and wrap back to bend; trim (gap width)

tie in midge tube

tie in tinsel at 2/3 mark, wrap to tail and back; tie off/trim

wrap midge tube forward; tie off/trim

tie in KF, fold, wrap back to hook point; trim (a bit past the bend)

Part 2

clean, stack, measure (tips even with shuck) a clump of deer hair; tie in

pull a few fibers back/wrap; repeat to lock in wing

post butts; brush on a little Sally

tie in hackle (wrap to top of post), shiny side out

dub thorax, finish at base of post

wrap hackle, cup side up, down post; finish with hackle hanging down on near side

Part 3

take a few wraps at base of post to lock hackle; half hitch x 2 (brush a little Sally on thread before tightening), trim hackle, trim thread

trim post (left a couple fibers long for antennae - optional/fragile/unnecessary/jff)
