Anyone know of any good fishing near Wichita? I will be up there in about 3 weeks for a dog agility trial and may have a little extra time on my hands.
Thanks, Steve

Wichita is my home area. There is normally some good trout fishing in slough creek, but they are done stocking, and in 2-3 weeks, there won’t be much left there. What kind of fishing are you looking for and how far do you want to travel? All of the city lakes get channel catfish stocked in every couple of weeks, and there are several others close in that have good populations of bluegills, bass, etc. You should be in the right timeframe to hit some good crappie and maybe even some white bass if you are willing to drive 30-45 minutes.
Thanks for the replies, guys. I was interested in any warm water oppurtunities, bass, bluegill, crappie, whatever. I fish the Arkansas River here in Tulsa frequently. It has a good population of stripers, white bass, and hybrids (wipers to you guys). Are there stripers that far upstream in the Arkansas River?

Not at all. There are stripers in Cheney, but that would most likely take a boat. Wipers can be had in Marion, just north of here a ways. Check out the Wildlife and Parks site. It gives forecasts, reports, urban fishing opportunities, and public fishing access (including private farm ponds leased by KDWP for public use). Lots and lots of info there. Wichita is in region 4.
