Fishing is not.
You can listen to nature
You can see the movement of the water
You can sit down.
You can be alone
You can think
You can transport yourself to days gone by.
You don’t even need to wet a line…
and
You are happy.
Often times fishing isn’t about fish. Which would you rather do?
Smell the exhaust of a propane forklift or the sweet scent of damp cedar on a misty morning.
Get blamed for daydreaming, or let your mind wander to other pleasant thoughts.
Watch contently as a fawn waters itself at streamside, or watch out for the boss.
Fishing is just plain a very pleasant thing to do.
Do you really need it? no (cell phone, 3 car garage, SUV, exhuberant house, bla, bla, bla)
Do you really need to? no (kids in 3 sports each, you in 4 leagues of this that and others, run here, dine there dadadadadada)
(these do not apply when related to fly fishing)
I was getting caught up in the hyperdrive of life … then said (2 choice words) and live the way we want - not what society has come to expect. I still have multiple projects around home and there’s OT at work. The thing is, I do them at MY pace.
Yeah - it gets really complicated out there (then see above questions)
I agree fishing is not about catching fish. I beleive the best time I have ever had fishing is last August sitting on a log along the Mason Tract of the AuSable smoking a pipe and watching a pair of beavers.
