Unless you are one of the 300 or so accounts I just blew up with an invalid email and no posts at all going back a full month… Just sign up again if that is you… AND PARTICIPATE … else why sign up?
Technical reason…
vBulletin stored passwords by taking a stored random string, adding your password to it and then hashing it in a one way manner.
That means when you entered your clear text password into the vBulletin login it did that process all over again and compared the result with the hash in the db.
Discourse does things differently. Not sure how yet, but the import refused to do passwords, so the point is mute.
SECURITY reason.
After not doing updates I REALLY need to make sure people are who they say they are. Some accounts may not have been as secure as they should be.

The site has only been up on discourse for a couple days at most at this point.
And as I am cleaning up stuff I noticed attempts at logging in as Denny…
Denny passed years ago, so either his Internet is VERY GOOD, or we had a bad actor.
Discourse isn’t perfect but it is WAY more secure.
WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT
Im still having a few email issues i think. My import caused me to get rate limited as I migrated people and the script backed up a thousand emails.
YOU SHOULD be able to try to log in with your username/email and say you forgot your password.
It SHOULD then send you a link to reset your password, and Bob’s your auntie … or something like that. Let me know if this refuses to play.
Logging in via Facebook or your Google account were added as well, although Facebook may go away, there are some potential issues there.
