Who would DARE?

Post a picture of such a small trout? :p:rolleyes::smiley:

(well, it was more colorful than the other one)

Or a Creek Chub??

Or…butterflies???

Like all the pictures but you answered the question.

Rick

How about a small bass? Caught this one last year

What species is that first trout?

Thanks Rick!

Small bass?? How DARE you! :D:D I’m just messing around. Probably ate too much sugar or something…
The first picture is just a rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). Born in a spring-fed creek in central Missouri. Kinda pretty, right?

Very pretty fish. The parr stripes confused me.

Looks like the Wunder fly worked again! Nice pictures!

Yes! Seems the only fish that don’t hit it are ones that don’t eat. :p:rolleyes:

DEFINITELY got a grin from here Dave!!!
Those are the size of the troutoids we pestered last w/e on the Russian while running the dog. The troutiods were surprising enough, but the total lack of squawfish and other “off” species definitely added to the “mystery”.
Keep’em coming Dave…

I haven’t been able to confirm this…but I know this stream hasn’t been stocked in many many years. And other such streams in MO were stocked with McCloud strain Rainbow Trout way back then. So, its possible that is what this is. I’ve seen pictures of McCloud strain Rainbows, and they look like these to me…but I don’t know if there is a way to tell them apart just by looking at them. Anybody else know?

I don’t know the answer to your question Dave, But I DO know that your first fish is so stunning with ALL it’s fins and the perfect sail for the dorsal. Something impossible to produce in a concrete raceway.

I think the only way to tell what strain of rainbow is do a DNA test and have an unveiling of the results on Jerry Springer to find out who the real baby daddy is.

Thanks for sharing the photos. And I thought I was the only one who caught fish that small.

Sometime the fly is bigger than the fish…

Thanks for posting that…it feels good to even just to see a PICTURE of a fish right now. Got the shack nasties going on. Used to icefish during the winter, but before moving to STL, MO, I gave all my icefishing gear away, thinking I’d never get to use it here. I don’t regret it…lots less clutter in the garage now… But this deep freeze we are in has locked up the local waters for the past few weeks, and looks like the ice may not melt off them for at least 3 more weeks. I’m just tying flies for now.

Nice looking flies David!

I’ll take your dare and raise you one [i]Cute Son

Thanks, Dale!

Aww, that’s a great picture!
