White River Clasic Fly Rod Outfit

Last night at my local Bass Pro Shop they had a Bass Pro Rewards party for all the people that had the rewards card. The wife and I went up there to try and win some of the door prizes. We did not win but they did have a few items on a special sale for the evening. One of them being a White River Classic Fly Rod Outfit. Just tie on a fly and your ready to go. It generally lists for $196.95 but was going for $99.88.

As I have been looking around for a 4wt for the Michigan Fish In and was even thinking of building one I decided for the savings it would be worth trying out. I am now the proud owner of an 8 ft 4 wt.

I was wondering if anyone has used this model and what you think about it. I already own the 6 wt and 8wt White River Hobbs Creekk models and this is a step up from those rods. Any comments good or bad would be appreciated.

I have a 9’ 5/6 wt. Not a bad combo. For the price it is hard to beat. One thing you might want to do is to get a better line sometime in the future. The one that came with your combo isn’t bad but you will probably be happier with a Cortland, S.A. or more expensive one form Bass Pros Shops.

Good combo. Enjoy it!

Nighthawk thanks for the input and I was already thinking of upgrading the line on all 3 rods

One of my fishing buddies has a 5 wt white river classic combo. It’s really good quality outfit. I own several pretty expensive rods and I’m always amazed when I cast his rod at how well it performs.

Regarding the line - if it comes with the bass pro CV2 line then that’s a really good line. I own several of them. They are made by SA and I think they are really good quality. And a real value at $20 when purchased separately.

I have used the WR Classic and for the money, I don’t think you can go wrong with it.
I also have several more rather expensive rods and honestly like the WR Classic just as well as the others. A good buy!
