It looks like the metal strippers that are available through Goldenwitch. I’ve used them on a number of rods, and like them.
Yes I have one to use, always liked them. There is one on an old glass W&M featherlight that I have. I am going to put this one on a 2wt. If I ever wanted to use them again I wasn’t sure what to ask for.
Thanks,
Janus
I have an old W&M Featherlight that resurrected from the dead this year (6’6" for a HCH)
It had a 6" short tip that I was able to repair
I love it
Fishes well with either a 4WF or a 3DT
I’d try that old rod of yours before I stripped it if I were you
No sorry confusing. I love the featherlight it’s a 7’ 6wt… had to restore it a bit, and would never touch it, fish it with much joy.Fishes great with a DT6 and spooled on an old Berkley 510 reel…
I have a stripping guide of that style loose in my hand…the featherlight will always remain intact. Just looking for the name of the style of stripping guide so I could order more for future builds after I wrap this one on a 2wt.
There are a couple of guides like that one. Midrum SRMC and Perfection unbraced boat rod guides(WCG for chrome, WGG for gold, or WTG for titanium) are pretty much the standards. Pacific Bay also makes a couple in that style. Look for CSBG(carbide ring) or XBG(chrome plated stainless).
Thanks for the information.

Mike ( BB member boarmountain ) would certainly identify that stripping guide for you if you asked. Just drop him a PM.
John
I had occasion to inquire to Mike about some things related to bamboo rod building and got a quick and very helpful response from him. Just wish Miles City MT was on the west side Montana instead the east side - so I could go up and visit his operation !!
Just pm’d him…should have done that from the start.
Hello janus, I’ve seen that style of stripping guide on ebay a lot.
Cheers,

Janus,
Here is a link to the golden witch web site that Betty referred to:
You can download their catalog as a pdf file. They have that guide and they call it a Carmet Stripper with chrome frame and extremely groove resistant carbide ring. They list them as size 8mm-18mm and prices $5.40-$18.50
Russ and Erica run an outstanding company with top notch customer service. They take great pride in finding those hard to get parts for restoration and providing high quality replacement components.
We know the guys at Snake, in fact they were sponsors for a while. I love the top of the line agate stuff he makes. Real artistry.
