What I believe is a Clacka Caddis I purchased at Park's Fly Shop in Gardiner, Mt.

Stopped in to see Walter Wiese and pick up my copy of his book.

Also bought a few flies for patterns.

I believe this is one of their Clacka Caddis. Looks good to me!!

The reason I say “might be a Clacka” is because the wing material seems to be cut instead of an intact loop.

May actually be a Zelon Caddis?

Need Walt to answer the question. I don’t recall the bin being identified in the shop…

So have you perused Walter’s book? What do you think? Planning on ordering a copy myself, because I will not be up there any time this season…

Yes, I have. It is a good book which covers their “signature” flies at Park’s shop.

Eh…check here:

…but it looks like it has that “waking post” that Craig uses on his White Miller Iris Caddis:

Is that pattern in Wally’s book ?

PT/TB

Huh???

It was from Parks Shop.
Not in the book.

Looks tasty, whatever it is. I personally know some fish that would eat this.

Case Solved!!!

It is a Cripple Caddis PFS!!!

That is why I provided the link…note that this Cripple Caddis , in the dry fly section of the PFS Site does not have the “waking post” that is on your photo…

PT/TB;)

Thanks PT. You’re the best!

Incidentally, it’s a BRF pattern on which I changed the colors from what they sell. I note that on the website. That pic actually does have the waking post; it’s just hiding in the hackle. I mostly tie it that way as a method of securing the post firmly, rather than to wake.

I didn’t include it in the book because the only thing I changed is the color.

That bug has been working the past few days on the Yellowstone. Unfortunately, we no longer have a river. Major mudslide 8 miles north of Gardiner. I’m talking wiping out backyards and trashing a couple houses. The Yellowstone is going to be too filthy to float for at least several days.

Walt,
Thanks for the info. Sorry to hear of the damage to your river.
You have missed a bunch of days due to rains and now the slide!
