I’m looking forward to perch fishing in Lake Michigan, but I don’t know what works well… Right now they’re coming into the harbors and a friend with a underwater camera went out and said they were completely lined out there… the big ones are about a foot off from the bottom. any fly recommendations?? I know I should throw woolly buggers but i dont know what size or colors should be good. would any weighted nymphs work or should I stick to minnow patterns b/c it seems the majority of fish are taken off minnows under slip floats…
We used to catch perch useing rug bugs in the Moses Lake/Potholes area of Wa. They were sort of a cross between a damsel nymph immi and a hare’s ear nymph immi…light olive…#10…deep.
Hey fish-study,
This should fill your needs; I’ve tied and used both flies - they work.
