This morning I recieved one of those “Please Forward This Message in 15 Minutes Or…”. Well I did not, never do anyway. But that may change as I was SKUNKED for the first time ever on the Elk River!! How can a trout hit a #16 Wooly Bugger and NOT get hooked up!? Of course my fishing partner was hauling them in with a #8 d…m near 20 feet from me??? I’d tried one of those too btw!
So be warned. All of you that are in my address book will begin to get all of those stupid “Forward Or Else” emails I get. I will not go fishless again on my home water!!
Isn’t it wonderful to have a real excuse for not catching anything? Stupid circulating emails!!
4 hours without a fish should bring tears to any flyfishers eyes so don’t get too upset just let me get rid of this Curse! :???:
Jack,
The beauty in this site is that most of us believe that if you give, it will come right back atcha…10-fold! Just a thought to ponder, my friend.
Joseph the Thoughtful
Obviously you have never fished for steelhead in the Pacific Northwest!
I NEVER send that craap out. Many times I delete people from my address book that DO send this stuff out however!
Jack (my maybe former friend), if you send that stuff to me and I don’t catch any fish
YOUR WILL NEVER GET ANOTHER FLY FROM ME!!!
rICK
I think it’s possible to forward a wonderful virus…kinda makes me think of the expression…‘you don’t know where that thing has been’…or something.

Jack, It’s called “Fishing” not “Catching”
Doug
Jack, I promise I will buy some of your furled leaders from you. I hope this helps your day…
I am with Wulff. That kind of stuff gets sent to me, I block the sender.
Did you ever consider other reasons for your luck, or lack thereof? Lucky hat left at home? Banana in your lunch? Wash your fishing vest?
Jack,
It might be a better idea if you asked for prayers.
Doug
Ah, the support one gets here in his time of duress is overwhelming!! Joe and Rick threaten with spam and no fly’s. DShock…, well he’s DShock! Kerry I’ve fished for Steelhead in Michigan and fully understand your comment. BBW and Montana Moose are right on!!
catman did help a little, thank you (discount is in order). DG may have hit on the problem. I had forgotten my Katch m Release tool and was worried about possibly hurting a fish should I land one. As I am on a first name basis with most of the trout in the Elk they may have just avoided my Wooly Buggers so as not to upset me! Yep, that’s it for sure!! I’m going to let them rest up for a couple of days and try again!
Jack,
One more suggestion; Sit still on your boat, no rod in your grasp, make no noise, listen to the birds and maybe your bad luck, will be a thing of the past.
Doug
He’ll get lotsa flies from me, in the ears, nose, neck, arm, waders…
Ed
Whew!:-? Glad he finally came to his senses…with a little encouragement.
BTW, Jack, I know you wouldn’t really do that to us. At your age you need to keep all the friends you have.
Joe
Hmmm. Maybe you just didn’t have the right woolly buggers. That’s it!
Jack,
One day a long, long time ago, I was fishing with my brother inlaw on the Clackamas river. It was a nice day and the best part was that I was catching fish after fish, on my fly. My brother inlaw was a beginner flyfisher, so I didn’t become suspicious, when he had quite a few rises, but no hook ups. I guess that I was secretly wishing that I was far superior of a flyfisher and that was the reason I was catching all the fish. My ego was slightly deflated, when I walked over to him, examined his fly and saw that the point of his hook was broken off! LOL
