everybody has their own methods, this is just another way. plain and simple.

Norm, Good article, read it earlier this week. The key is the thread type. A flat lying thread is needed…twisted-round thread does not give the same results;)

I agree. I use UTC Ultra in a 70 denier for most of my smaller fly applications. Very strong, yet minimal buildup. Normand, thanks for the link. A good article about some good habits to learn and practice in effective fly tying.
