Going for a long weekend of camping and fishing at Swallow Falls St Pk in Garret county, MD. Wondering if anyone has any experience fishing here.
Will also be going out for a day on the boat on Deep Creek Lake the same weekend.
Thanks in advance for any reports, suggestions, or even stories…

Get a hold of a Delorme topo atlas. Depending on what you are going to target. LOTS of good fishable water out that way. The PPCTU (PotomacPatuxentChapter of TU) is planning an outing out that way in the not too distant future. Drop me a personal note and I can forward some of the info if you are interested. Many more places to fish out there than you/others want to read about from me at this point in time.

zach, you lucky dog, there’s too much good brookie water out there for you to tackle in a weekend, so GO NUTS! my best advice is to get maps and talk to folks who guide out there.

My weekend out in Western MD was a cold and rainy affair so we didn’t get to do much fishing. I managed to get about 2 hours of daylight to fish the Youghiheny below the falls and caught one brown and oddly a carp. The guy at the local tackle shop said that the smaller rivers and the savage were better for trout. We did have a great time camping so maybe we will return soon and the weather will be better!
My friend that lives at Deep Creek Lake swears by black ants for that area.
