I got to go steelhead fishing today at the local river. When i got there, there were about a dozen other people fishing with spawn and bobbers and to my suprise nobody was at my favorite spot to fly fish there. In the first hour and a half i got one sucker and lost a steelhead that was about 20+" long. that was the only action I had all day. I was using chenille eggs when i had the action but then switched to an egg sucking leech with no results and went through a few different zonker flies and some polar shrimp but with no more luck. Hopefully get to go out again tomorrow. Felt great to be back on the water.
Went out again today. this time we went to the boyne river. No fish tried several flies and presentations but no luck.
Mayhaps none today, but you pretty much summed it all up in your last sentence of your first post … “Felt great to be back on the water.”
Also Remember. No Fish today means More Fish for tomorrow. Have Fun.
Beats the heck out of sitting at home working today which is what I’m doing. Won’t be long now and the chrome will start pushing into the streams hard!
