Took my Sage XP 3wt, my NuCanoe and my “Pimped Out” Pflueger 1494 bluegill fishing today and caught 10 nice bluegill on a softhackle wet fly. Gave them to my friend Tom Roberts (Doublewide on FAOL). That is him holding the stringer. I will go again tomorrow to see if I can catch myself some to eat.
Popperfly called a little while ago and told me you killed them. I guess he had it right. Nice string of Gills. Hey who is that good lookin guy totting your fish for ya?
Tim, that is WarrenP personal fishing guide on Bedford Lake
Hey, Tim, how you been? Yes, I had a good time bluegill fishing today. Tom and Jack fished from the shore and the fish were just a little too far to reach from shore. Tom looks good with that stringer of fish, doesn’t he. I hope to go again tomorrow and have as good a time as today. I bet I will have to fight Tom off my spot! I think the wind will be up tomorrow so that will make it a little harder to stay on a spot. Maybe you and Joe need to return and go bluegill fishing…
Stay in touch,
Don’t tempt me
Nice stringer of fish!
I think it is time for me to get into gear. My cousin told me the crappy were hitting well up in VA so I need to get going! Moving down to NC from MI my fishing timer is way off.
Nice looking gills. I am jealous!
Byron, the new guy
Hey Byron welcome to FAOL.
My Nephew lives in Owensboro, he owns Windy Hollow Campground
Wingsdlc,
Yes, you better get out there and start bluegill fishing. This is not the frozen North! The small lake I caught those in had a water temperature of about 52 degrees. I went there again today but the wind got up to about 15mph and this small lake has no wind protection. I did manage to catch about 3-4 smaller gills and one small bass before I decided I was tired of fighting the wind. Maybe tomorrow if the wind lets up. I did observe one other guy there fishing for crappie and he was doing pretty good.
ironbyron,
Welcome to FAOL from Tennessee. Your bluegill should be moving soon so keep a check on them. Find a day when the sun is up and warming things up and fish the shallow ends of small ponds and lakes. The gills I caught were acting like they were looking for places to start bedding when the water temperature gets right.
Your are going to enjoy FAOL. Good bunch of people here and they are more than happy to help you out.
Small world, huh? What’s his name?
Byron
