I have been looking for the website for “Scintilla Dubbing” for quite sometime. Is this company still in business? I occ find the dubbing in shops but would like to acquire bigger packages of it as I have been known to use lots of it. One could say it is my favourite synthetic dubbing.
Thanks
W-Jack;
Don’t know if you can get anything, from this, but I picked it up off another forum that was also discussing Scintilla Dubbing. (Which, became “Ligas Dubbing” a few years back, if I recall correctly)!?!
Ligas is alive and well in Boulder Colorado. We operate out of our house in the winter and “Wally” has
a Boulder store front at 2709 Spruce Street during the summer. It is called Ligas Flies. 303 443 1412.
The dubbing will be available at the store from April 15th to September 15th.
Yes we still carry dubbing in 60 colors. We purchased the dubbing line from Ken Ligas in 1981. We will wholesale or retail the product.
Wally and Miriam Allen
give this place a shout and see if they will sell in bulk

Flybinder,
I’ve got some Ligas dubbing but haven’t used it in a while. Is it primarily for wet or dry flies?

8T;
What little, of it, I still have I use for both. It’s a “slippery” dubbing, as you know so I don’t like it very much for drys, it’s too hard to taper a nice body with even if using a loop method. So, primarily, I use it for wets, dues to his glossiness.
I may drag my Ligas back out into the light of day and feed it to some brim. They seem to like slippery, glossy tangles that magically appear underwater on a size #12 hook. Thanks for the info Flybinder. Much appreciated. 8T
Interesting, last I heard Scintilla was located in Montana. Could be why I can’t find it given they moved. Thanks, I’ll give them a try.
Thanks, I’ll give these folks a try too.
8T and Whiskey; You’re both, very welcome and I hope the info I posted is at least accurate!?! Like I mentioned, I pulled it off another board and the info I copied, had a “posting date” of Jan.11th 2008 so I take it, it’s pretty current!?!
