Weaved stone fly

Thanks everyone for your help with the crest. I have the urge to tie many different types of flies- so here is my weaved stone fly and caribou hair cripple (before and after being thrown around in the river). Hope you like it!

Aileen,
Looks good! Keep up the good work!

Love the lighting on this one.
Awesome ties!

Nice flies Aileen. I really like the “thinning hair” on the cripple. Some trout may have aged it some.

Aileen,

For only tying for about a year, I’d say your ahead of the power curve. Nice looking flies, especially that emerger/cripple. The woven pattern is nice, but that emerger just floats my boat. Would you mind putting the recipe up for it?

This is a fly created by Matthew Grobert and published in Fly Tier’s Bench. Use hook size and dubbing according to whatever mayfly emerger you are creating.

Hook: #16 Tiemco 2487 or 2488
Thread: yellow 3/0 monocord; yellow 6/0 monocord
Tail: dark amber Z-Ion
Rib: brown 3/0 monocord touch-dubbed with brown dubbing.
Abdomen: Yellow 3/0 monocord.
Thorax: Yellow dubbing
Wing: Caribou hair (tied in using 6/0 monocord - since caribou hair is very light and cuts easily, don’t use threads finer than 6/0.)

The fly I tied in the picture looks pretty scraggly after playing around, but I think it made it look more buggy.

Enjoy!
