We have a Ghillie

As some of you know, Vickie and I had our dog, an Australian Kelpie named Cuhee, put to sleep on the 12th of September. Cuhee was a great dog and we wanted to wait a bit, travel and so on, before getting another dog. That lasted until about 10:30 AM today.

Meet Ghillie, 9 weeks old, English Springer Spaniel, who is now our hunting/fishing buddy. VEE picked the name and it fits.

First meeting.

VEE and Ghillie

Nap time in his crate after 4 hours with us.

Nothing lifts your heart like a new puppy.

Hi REE and VEE,

Looks like you picked a swell pup. I’m sure he? will fit right in with your family and life style. Enjoy! 8T  Super good name too!

Four hours with you two would tucker anyone out. :stuck_out_tongue:
Thats a good looking dog, nice choice, great name.

That is one cute pup! Congratulations!

Cute pup! Sounds like one of those “love at first sight” things.
Enjoy!
Mike

Looks like you guys are PetSmart !!

Ron,

Sorry to hear about your dog Cuhee. Looks like the new addition has already settled in with the family. Congratulations.

Congrats!!

Knowing that you’ll get a return investment in fur is a nice feature, just by combing daily.

Dogs are cool. I think I like dogs better then I like most people. Good luck with the new pup. He/she looks like a winner.

Nice dog! Will make a great companion for years to come. He’s got a good home for sure.

that is one fine dog

Hey Ron,
Nice pup. May you enjoy his company and he yours for many healthy years to come.

Mark

Nice looking dog. A great addition to the family.

Not much sleep last night. Ghillie missed sleeping with his litter mates, so slept next to new Dad. Did you know that puppies can be dead tired, sleep for 30 minutes and be ready to eat, poop, pee and play for another 3 or 4 hours? It’s true! Did you know that long hair (mine) is a tug of war toy at 2 AM? It’s true! Did you know that a teething puppy can make bedroom slippers (just one slipper) into an open toed sandal in just minutes? It’s true! Today we puppy proof the house.

Kerry, I know the feeling. I’ve always gotten along better with animals than people. VEE told me that I’ve had my cat (16 years old) longer than I’ve had any wife (I’ve had 4, keeping this one.).

…And my bet is that REE & VEE love every minute of it! Sort of like a 2 year old child, isn’t it?
Mikey

Awesome looking pup, with two good parents to take good care of him/her…

My buddy Fischer has turned into a great fishing companion and his “brother” Thor is now fishing and hunting also…
Fischer in his usual spot on a rock waiting for me to produce…

Thor and Fischer trying to look not guilty of getting into my fishing water…

Thor and my son with their first Grouse of the year…

Congrats, both of you, on your new “Fur Kid”!
We currently have 4 pups left to adopt out, from our last two litters and what you described, REE, about “how pups are” is what we’re getting phone calls about, from most of our new “parents” of the pups we’ve already adopted out!
Don’t worry though. With that particular breed you’ve just adopted, those things you described will only last another 2 years at the most!
After that age. the “30 minutes of sleep, before being ready to go again”, will stretch clear out to almost 90 minutes!
Nice to know, too, that the pup ALREADY “has your number”, if you gave in and let it sleep with you, because “YOU THOUGHT” it missed its litter mates!?!
Pups ARE SMART REE, you’re done for my friend!

Binder,

Thanks for the words of encouragement. 90 minutes of sleep sounds wonderful right now. I know the pups are smarter than me, but waking up to puppy breath is a whole new treat. Did you know that puppy teeth go right through socks and into toes. It’s True! Tonite I puppy proof me.

You’re welcome, REE.
But, as far as “puppy proofing YOU”… I doubt that will work. Unless, of course, you’re the first person, ever, to live without your heart!?
(Try a VERY, VERY, SMALL “smear” of Tabasco sauce on anything you don’t want chewed on). DON’T give the pup “anything old” as “a toy”, either! Pups, and even grown dogies, don’t know the difference between “old and new”, shoes, socks, slippers, etc.!!
