Is it time to target “higher” life forms? How about biting black flies at the top of the list?

Black flies would be good for all the people in the Great North Woods but lets do some major good worldwide and top the list of higher life forms to be eliminated with mosquitos :twisted: . Aside from the general misery of their bites, they kill thousands of people world wide because of diseases they carry. DEATH TO MOSQUITOS! :twisted: 8T
getting rid of those nasty skeeters, or getting rid of their deadly effects in certain areas of the world, would be a Godsend to millions.
say this in all seriousness, not as a nasty crack, maybe Bill Gates will decide to direct some of his resources in that direction. Folks can say all sorts of bad things about him and I will not take up that argument. But there is a man who can get things done. Ridding the world or mosquito-borne disease would be a good thing to get done.
I thought that problem was tackled when we built the Panama Canal? Isn’t that why we delute Gin with Tonic Water (quinine)? On a serious note, the West Nile virus is an issue, we give our horses a West Nile shot each spring and hope for the best. My buzz of shirts seem to work pretty well for the skeeters, it’s the tick’s that are a problem this time of year. If you want to enjoy the outdoors, it’s just another thing we have to deal with. I don’t feel too bad however, in Australia, just about everything that crawls or flies can approach the “deadly” catagory, and I don’t think my Buzz of shirts would provide a whole lot of protection for those kind of critters. I happy to be outdoors and I will continue put up with some minor set-backs like a black fly bite now and then.
