Way to go TWRA!!!

i just wanted to sent out a great big WOOOHOOO to TWRA! (Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency) They have now included the local city pond in their winter stocking schedule!!

I can’t wait! Although I must admit, I am intimidated by the thought. I live in a really small town and everybody knows everybody. Nobody around here fly fishes, so if I go out there and don’t catch anything or make a fool of myself, I’ll never live it down. :stuck_out_tongue: I usually don’t worry about making a fool of myself, at least not if there isn’t anyone around.

Nevertheless, way to go TWRA!!

PS I am sorry for all of you guys trapped up north with frozen ponds to look at, and I am not trying to rub it in, I’m just excited!!

Frozen ponds? That’s why ice augers were invented!

Frozen Ponds Were Reason #3 for moving to Tennessee!

Finally the TWRA is doing something FOR US instead of closing land to recreational use.

About time!!!

Locally a lake cove is netted off and stocked with trout twice a year. Once we even had 3 stockings.

Now if they would re-open closed land to recreation, that would be great.

Don’t worry about it. In the Summer, when we’re mowing the lawn in 102 F weather, they get to post about how they’re thinking of breaking out their short-sleeved shirt, singular.

Warm regards to all,
Ed

Nah, it’s when you are mowing the lawns in 102% humidity that I am happier

Around here it doesn’t usually get much over 70%. West Tennessee sees a fair amount of 80-90% humidity. The Gulf Coast gets near your 102 % humidity. Last time I went down to see my Sister, I went for walks along the shore. It is a bit disconcerting to have humidity dripping off the mustache when there is not precipitation. That’s VERY humid.

Ed, who hopes to be fishing dries and droppers this December.

70%?? don’t you have to drink that? Out here we die when it gets over 30%.

I can concur on the 80-90% for West Tn

I live it all summer.

The worst part is when it’s 100 degrees and 80% humidity the Bermuda grass grows very, very fast. I have to cut the grass sometimes 3 times a week when the weather is like that !!! Fortunately I have a Cub Cadet with a 54" deck.

If you quit fertilizing it, it won’t grow as fast. Just a hint.

At New Year’s a couple of years ago, we took a cruise to the “Caribbean”. One of the stops was Belize. We elected to take the day trip to the Mayan pyramids.
The high that day was around 80 to 85, with maybe 60% humidity. We left Texas with 40 deg and spitting rain. Belize was a nice, spring day for us. We were loving it.
Not so for all of the Yankees on the trip.
“God! It’s so hot!” “I’m melting!”
We were laughing our butts off.
Right now, it’s 47 Deg., 95% humidity, and raining. The local weatherman was discussing sleet and/or snow(flurries) for Friday night.
I’m in my own personal version of Hell.
I cannot understand how anyone can actually enjoy living in anyplace where it’s cold for more than about month and a half in a year.

Just another example of what’s great about America. Personally I am glad some of you think the idea of a steady diet of 80% humidity in the summer is terrible. The idea of winter from October to June is terrible to me. I worked my way through college doing road construction in New Orleans, I can’t imagine working outside in the winter north of Nashville. I like to visit the desert but ya’ll sure have to go a long way to go fishing, I would get withdrawal. You like where you live and I like the south. Come for a visit.

God is good. Can I get an Amen?

Amen. How 'bout them yellowhammers…

Ed

I think we can all agree with that one!

Amen.
