Way to go Ducks !!!!!!

How about those Oregon Ducks. Gave Michigan a sound whipping today, 39-7. Michigans most lopsided loss in 39 years.

Rocky

HOORAY!!! Big Statement!!! Dixon’s BEST performance ever!!! Rocky, those announcers and the 100,000 fans were  ed!!!
I feel for the Michigan Team! they have a terrible amount of pressure on them. I had a feeling that Michigan hadn’t recovered from the Appalachian St. game and it turns out it was true!
Michigan’s loss last week was unheard of and unbelievable! That kind of game could ruin their whole season (they dropped out of the Poll)
Doug

I fear for my Beavers  That Dixson is the real McCoy!

Duckster I cheer the Beavers on as much as the Ducks. I don’t play favorites. But after what Cincinnati did to the Beavers the other night I now know just how those Michigan fans feel.

Rocky

once again I spend the preseason hearing from ESPN and the national news that the Pac 10 is a bunch of over rated hacks that just can’t compete, then the season starts and the pac 10 teams start moving up the poll and the other highly touted teams start falling out.

QUACK

Eric

Born a duck

I was reading news stories about the Ducks vs. Michigan game and the ONE article that stood out was by Mitch Albom-Detroit Free Press.

Quoting Mitch!; “I hate to put it this way, but there were Lions games that were less embarrassing than this.”

“Butt Kicking.”

“This was just an unranked PAC 10 team flying across the country and stomping on the Wolverines, like a 6 year old having a tantrum.”
End Quote.
To top off the cake for Michigan, their starting QB got hurt and probably won’t play next week against Notre Dame.

I’m not exaggerating when I say that in my 40 years of watching College Football, Michigan’s situation is unprecedented.

Doug

Doug you know Jonezee is from Michigan. Maybe he seen this coming and that is why he is not being heard from. At least I hope that is all it is.

Rocky

Jonezee needs to move back to Oregon anyway!
Doug P.S. Rocky, Do you think THAT game might help UO Duck Recruiting?

I don’t think they have done to bad in the recruiting for the last couple years. We will see how the rest of the season goes. I am waiting to see how the Ducks do with a baseball team. After what the Beavers baseball team has done the last two years I guess the Ducks decided it was time to jump on the wagon.

Rocky

OK Let Me confess, I work At Michigan, I’ve fed those guys that hit the field. I don’t think the coach can be held totally responsible for the losses. I’ve heardthe training table conversations. Some players are a little over confidient. I’ve never been a big Michigan fan even if they do sign my paycheck. Now next week is my favorite game since my oldest may be goiung to Notre Dame next year.
I’ll cheer For Irish and anyone else that can beat Michigan.
And congrats to those Ducks!!

Interesting column in the Oregonian today about some recruits visiting Michigan yesterday

The recruits were there During the GAME???
Doug

Yep, and one said “I want to go to Oregon” and the other two nodded

I am not familiar with the Ducks - till the other day anyway. How many National titles have they won? How many Pac 10 championships have they won? How many times have they been to the Rose Bowl?

I am not a huge Michigan Fan but every team has on off season once in a while. And remember, the state of Michigan has the Lions.

Bob Bolton

Bob,
UO had a terrible season last season and I didn’t have much hope for this season either! Oregon State had a lot better year than the Ducks in 06. Usually the focus is on a team like the Ducks getting LUCKY and beating Michigan (On the Duck’s FIELD!) But Bob, the Ducks WHOOPED Michigan in front of 109,000 Michigan Fans!!!
So it isn’t simply that the Ducks got LUCKY, it’s that they HAMMERED Michigan!! Did I predict that the University of Oregon would have a chance against Michigan on Michigan’s field? NO! Especially after Michigan LOST to Appalachia St. last week!! That’s the way sports works! You get beat and the next week you try harder and WIN!
I have never seen anything in College football like Michigan’s first 2 games. The Ducks and every other team in the PAC 10 will never go to the Rose Bowl as long as USC is top dog.
USC and Cal are the BEST teams and everyone else is second.
Did you notice how GOOD UO QB Dixon played? Well he never did that before! It looked like, from the Michigan game, that the Ducks were a ranked team in the top 10 with a Heisman QB!!!
So THAT is what I LOVE about College Football and other Sports, YOU NEVER KNOW what will happen next!
Doug

The Oregon Ducks have been to the Rose Bowl 4 times. They won it once. They were the first team from the west to win it. Pac-10 champs twice. Pac-10 co-champs once. Before the Pac-10 there was the Pacific Coast conference and they were co-champs 4 times.

And the Oregon State Beavers have been to the Rose Bowl 3 times with 1 win.

Rocky

Well I’m not exactly a Duck fan but I do root for them when it is appropriate…and in IMHO that quarterback has come of age and that offense is made for him…BEWARE! I’m not sure about Bellotti as a coach anymore but the quarterback made him look good too.

Ducksterman,
I read Canzano’s article about the Michigan recruits deciding AFTER the game, they wanted to go to Oregon!!!
PRICELESS!!!
Doug

Doug,
I agree. I am not a big Michigan fan and I just wanted to keep a little chatter going. Seems like big schools with long histories like Mich and Ohio State and USC have as many detractors as fans - maybe more. This state has always been one of ups and downs like Mich State, the Red Wings, and Pistons. But I will tell you one thing. People in this state love their sports. Lion’s stands were filled even through their worse years. And they even got 2 new stadiums since I lived here.
But I was born and raised in Iowa and will always have a soft spot for the Hawkeyes. And thats even though I went to Iowa State.
But then this is a fishing sight. Just got back from Florida. The snook on the beach were spooky as the Michigan coaching staff.
Oops, there I go again.
