I’m about to take my dog to the vet and expect to be there a while. My partner has no intention of cooking dinner either so… I’m pretty sure we’re looking at chinese take out.
… deep-fried (peanut oil!) crappie fillets dipped in beer batter, hushpuppies, homegrown sweet corn, hot house tomatoes, and cornbread. Washed down with fresh-brewed coffee. Dessert will be a slab of chocolate pie. That’ll make your tongue slap your brains out …
Fridays are usually busy here. We often
do our weekly shopping, service the vehicles
and get the odd chores out of the way. I
host the chat room from 9 to 11 EST. We
have gotten into the habit of doing a
hot sandwich for Friday dinner.
Tonight it’s Philly steak and cheese subs
on fresh sub rolls. Just like the ones I
used to get in Philly! French fries and
iced tea finishes off the meal. It’s a
favorite of the wife and I. Warm regards,
Jim
Home made pizza! My girlfriend is putting it together now as I type… Last night I made “Thin spaghetti with Scallops, Fish and Anchovy Sauce”, - recipe taken from the July’05 On The Water magazine…“Outa this world…”
Montana Garlic Chicken, Bow Tie Pasta with Pesto, Corn, Fruit Salad and for dessert - Frank Reid’s Warp Drive Chocolate Pie.
Recipe for the pie will be in What’s Cooking on Monday. Oh boy, it is every good!
Geez you guys do it tough. Anybody there under 200 pounds?
Only joking guys. I think its barbeque and salad for me, as its hot here, about 102 degs. Too hot to worry about cooking much, or fishing either, come to that…
A Navy buddy married a lovely Thai girl.
I stood up for him at their wedding. Sweet
as the day is long and a wonderful cook.
Smart too. I believe she’s an international
banking exec. But for the life of me, I can
not get her to leave that fermented carp
juice off of the finished dishes. Warm
regards, Jim
Tonight we had fillets of bluegill fried in a batter of eggs and covered with Japanese bread crumbs, fresh Oregon baked potato, string beans, coffee and/or milk and ice cream for desert.
As my friend in Virginia used to say when we had fish fries “I wonder what the poor folks are eating tonight?”
We have found several good Mexican joints here on S. Padre and Port Isabel.
On monday nights a place just down the street has a 6 oz. fillet for $12 that is as good as I’ve had. A red wine called Texas Red is good as well…we have not missed a monday night since we’ve been here and don’t plan to.
