According to Lamson, the Purist and Force reels now have the hard alox type finish. Have any of you actually seen one? I’m wondering if the color has been changed, like the Litespeed and Velocity reels. I emailed Lamson, but they didn’t answer that question.

They wouldn’t be the first company to lag product changes in web site updates. My info comes directly from the company, but they didn’t answer my question about the color. Several online shops have been advertising the new finish, but the pictures look the same, as do the pictures in the 2008 Lamson catalog. I’m just trying to determine if they went to press with old photography, or if they figured out how to do the alox finish and maintain the black and silver colors of the pre-2008 reels.

Just got another email from Lamson, to wit: the new hard alox Purist and Force reels remain silver and black, as before. I guess anyone buying one will have to check the box and inserts to verify whether they are getting new or old stock.
