I was wodering if anybody had any opinions on the water skeeter toons?
Yes, but I keep them to myself.
So what do you need an opinion on? Price, durability, country of origin?
Yes, all of the above. More importantly, the durability and how well their made.
I have the ‘river tamer II’ model. I have owned it for about 4 years and am very pleased with it. My boat has a dual bladder system, there are two air chambers in each pontoon. I liked the increased safety factor since I often use it on class III rivers. Well made with quality componants. Standard air valve and oarlock system means replacements are fairly easy to find even when I’m on the road.
Some of the gadgets that came with the boat are of little use to me, such as the live well, cup holder and anchor bag (small mesh bag to be filled with rocks, not heavy enough)
I made a few modifications over the years , extra rod holder, cleated anchor pulley system, 2 lbs metal anchor and a dry box instead of the cargo tray.
The boat has a lot of rocker (curved bananna shaped pontoon) which is nice in big waves, but it also catches the wind. Still a good boat for the money.
If I had an $400 more in the budget I would probaly go with a DaveScaddon ‘Skyomash’ with the low profile pontoons and the casting platform that slides underneath when not in use. My buddy has one and it’s a real nice boat, but for a lot more $$$
I have a River Tamer and second what kengore said except I use the cupholder .
I added a couple rod holders, rear deck, launching gear wheel and Scotty anchor system.
I have the river tamer as well great boat ive added a minn kota endura 30 pound thrust, hummingbird portable fish finder and built a alumminum stand at work so i can streach my legs during a long drift. I love it no complaints;)
