Just starting some spring cleaning and picked up my back issues of Warmwater Fly Fishing magazine. What a great publication. When I first started fly fishing, see, I’m from the south, I was really interested in fly fishing for bream and bass. I found this magazine and subscribed. Shortly after that, they cancelled the publication. What a loss. My wife and I had just been married, and I ordered ALL the back issues and it caused the biggest fight we had as a newly wed couple! Ha! I sill have all the back issues, still have my wife, have a couple kids now, so I guess the fight was worth it after all!
Anyone else have back issues they cherish as much as I do?
I also kept all my issues and was very dissappointed when it was no longer published. I got my first article published in this magazine call High Caliber Poppers so it holds a special place in my heart.
I too still have my warm water Fly Fishing Magazines. Was and still am disappointed they cancelled it. I bet if they brought it back it would do better than it did then. I usually pull them out once a year to go back through them and see what I’ve forgotten. I warm water fly fish about 98% of the time.
I have the complete set & they are invaluable to me. My fishing is also 95+% warm water. That magazine was just a little premature. If brought out today, it would be more popular, but there is also an internet presence in all things that hurts all printed media today.
I’ll hand mine down to Grandchildren, but not yet!

Yea, that was a great magazine. I too have all the issues. Wish they would bring it back. I agree there is a lot of good info on the internet but there is just something about thumbing through a magazine or a book that the internet will never replace.
I doubt it will come back. Conmtacted the publisher when it was going out.
Reason given was that the advertisers said that warmwater fly fishers did not buy anything and they quit their ads.
At that time I never saw a rod listed for warmwater fish.
Still wish it was back.
+1. I’m on the internet a lot, but if I had a warm water fly fishing magazine, it would be so much better. I too agree that it was a bit ahead of its time and if it were brought back, It would do quite well. I used to subscribe to Bicycling Mag and Mountain Biking Mag. The publisher cancelled MTB Mag but then made it a 4 or 6 time a year supplement to Bicycling. That would work for me. I would subscribe to a fly fishing mag if they had a warm water supplement every 2-3 months…something is better than nothing!
