Wapsi Micro Tubing .....

I’m looking for some Wapsi Micro Tubing. I’ve checked with a few of our sponsors with no luck. Anyone know where I can find some in the micro size? I’ll be wanting to get three different colors.

Thanks in advance,
Greg

I’m not very fammiliar with that product, if it is for tube flies, i don’t know anything about it, but if it is stretch tubing you want, i know where to get it, my local store has some, but i’m not sure it is wapasi… in green brown and i thing yellow…

Greg,
I have a number of colors in the Hareline Stalcup’s Micro tubing. Here is one of many links for it:

Try the craft store for all colors of micro tubing in the bead and necklace section-It can be streched for a smaller size. Bill

And another fine tubing is Liquid Lace.

Here I used a section of LL on my variation of John Wilson’s Trout Crack:

So many choices

Thanks for all the input thus far, guys. I’m familiar with some of the other products on the market. I’m looking for the Wapsi Stretch Tubing. It is a small diamter tubing with excellent stretch. My local flyshop is currently out of stock and I can’t find a retailer. Thanks again.

The craft store tubing is the same and will stretch to a smaller size BILL

…and it (the craft store tubing) casts a lot less! It’s called “stretch magic”, comes in different diameters, and lots of colors! Got mine at Michaels in the bead and jewelry section.

“Stretch Magic” is not hollow tubing.

At least the roll I’m looking at isnt!

 You’re right! It’s solid, but boy, does it stretch! Makes dandy flies, though!

Normand,

Nice flies! Are they clear Stretch Magic over thread, tinsel or something else? What sizes do you have the best results with?

Still looking for some Wapsi Stretch Tubing in the micro size. I got a spool of the stretch magic (clear) thinking I could dye it but it’s not holding color at all. If you know where I can get some Wapsi tubing please let me know.

Thanks,
Greg

If you are willing to at least try a substitute, I suggest you try Stalcups Micro Tubing which is as good or better than the Wapsi brand!

If you’re not willing to substitute then you’re on your own.

Norm,

Thanks for the reply. I have tried Stalcups, Larva Lace, and Stretch Magic. I currently have each of these in my materials box. In my opinion, they are not the same as the type I’m looking for. The search continues.

Is the hollow strechable tubing the same product described by Al Campbell in his article about tying the Liquid Lace Sowbug? Anyone familar with this?

Excerpt form the article-“I use several patterns that imitate sowbugs. One of my favorites has been a woven creation that uses a lace (plastic micro tubing) and ostrich herl body. I have usually used Larva Lace for the body, but wished for a type of lace that would stretch to a thinner size to use on smaller hooks. Until recently, I didn’t have a source for any lace products that would stretch that thin. Then, my friend Keith Dyer (KD for the chat room guys) mentioned a new kind of micro tubing that will stretch to many times its original length and many times thinner that it started out as. It’s called Liquid Lace, and it’s just what I was looking for.”

I have Liquid Lace on my website. The micro will stretch very small diameter. I even fill it for you if you’d like.
