Would anyone be interested in a swap where at least one of the materials has to be purchased at Walmart. I’ll limit it to 10 tyers including myself. Last day to sign up will be Sept 30, With Oct. 31 the last due date to have your flies in the mail. Flies have to be toe tagged, and return label and postage required. I’ll tie a Flashdancer, a Smallmouth streamer.
1 Dan Gober Flashdancer I use a lace trim for the body, makes for a nice looking, but very effective fly.

Sounds interesting count me in Dan,Hope it’s ok to use more than one material from wally world on the pattern…lol
“I’ve often wondered why it is that so many anglers spend so much money on,and pay so much attention to.the details on the wrong end of the fly line.If they took as much care in selecting or tying their flies as they did in the selection of the reel and rod,They might be able to gain the real extra edge that makes it possible to fool a fish that has,in fact, seen it all before” A.K.Best
“Wish ya great fishing”

Count me in. I already have a fly that is ALL Wally World stuff(even the hooks). It’s a good one.

Thanks for joining xisintheend, billknapp, and Kahuna. The swap is off and running. By the way I’ll be thinking up a few small prizes for the best new ideas. Now let’s find a few more wally world shoppers out there. I’ll get the mailing details out in a few days. Thanks again. Dan
Do you mind if I join in the fun? The past season I tied a variation of a Dean River Lantern that only uses material that can be found at our local Wal-Mart. Somehow even with my sloppy presentation it managed to fool a number of sockeye, pink and chum salmon. Although it’s a bright Pacific Northwest pattern, I think it could be productive in warm waters.
Welcome trouting_thomas and Panman. I would say this swap is starting to roll. Anyone who hasn’t joined because you don’t know what to tie. Take a look a Boyd Pfeiffer articles in Fly Tyer. Better yet take a run though the fly of the week right here on Foal. Thanks Dan
Put me down, Danny. TBA. I have a fly in mind that I tie with beads from Walmart, although I can’t for the life of me think of what it’s called. Bluegill fly. JGW
Welcome ozmo and RG/AR, the swap is now full. I’ll get an email out today with my address. I’ll be updating everyone weekly at a mininum. Also I will be sending all flies back out within five of receiving the last set. So the sooner you get tying the faster you get your set back. I did say there would be prizes for the best new material used. My wife will be the judge, she doesn’t tie or fish, but she wants to help. I was in wally world last night and found some really neat materials. Hope you enjoy the swap. Dan
Not sure about wild material but my fly is Walmart aberdeen hooks, bright flourescent orange yarn,Carter and Coats bright flourescent thread, hackle(assorted feathers) and gold beads from Hobby Lobby. NOW the major Wally World item is a device. A IGIA TWIST-A-BRAID my middle daughter was going to throw out. My hackle will be assorted colors because there aren’t many orange in the pack so all will be different hackles. This is an extended body, gold bead headed bass fly or whatever. {:O) I’m pretty excited about it. BTW the IGIA ALSO came from WALLY WORLD!!

Mine will go out tomorrow. Just a couple left to finish the box. I don’t know the name of my fly. A friend gave me this thing several years ago and it’s a decent bluegill fly. It’s like a wooly bugger with a red bead in the middle. The peacock herl and the red beads are from Wally World, the chicken is not. Tied on a 14 1X . I place the bead onto the hook, then wrap the back half with the herl and palmer in green grizzly hackle. Then I push the bead flush with the back body half and secure the bead in place with a ball of thread. then I finish off the front half the fly with the same materials as the back half. The bead is an attractant. Hope it catches you folks some fish. JGW
