walloon lake mi.

going up to wallon lake to visit family. I have never been there and was wondering how the fishing is. any suggestions would be appreciated.

You will be right in between two of my favorite rivers. To the Southwest will be the Jordan River with the Boyne river between you and it. To the East will be the peigeon river as well as the black and Sturgeon rivers. My personal first choice would be to fish the upper Jordan in the jordan river vally wilderness area. Second choice because of the longer drive would be the pigeon river somewhere upstream of the damage done by the latest song of the morning ranch dam spill. I seem to recall that Walloon lake itself has walleyes in good numbers but I have never fished it.

If you go north to brutus or alanson you could try the maple, supposed to be a good trout stream, but i have only caught a few there.
In walloon depending on where you are there is good bass, brown trout, bluegill, walleye, and decent pike fishing. Bluegills and bass can be caught in the old mill pond.everything else in the east branch trolling. The bass and bluegill will be eager to go after a topwater fly if you can find them. any more questions just ask

thanks for the info. going to look into the jordan valley erea.
