Walking on the Backbone of the Rockies (NFR)

A couple more days in Glacier, hiking the Continental Divide.

Got off a quick shot of a little cinnamon at Two Dog Flats while dropping off our shuttle (only other bear we saw was climbing a tree along Hwy 89 outside Babb)

Back up at Logan Pass; we’re headed for that green plateau beneath the 2 peaks, dead center (about 7.6 miles)

the Garden Wall

leaned up against it and looked straight up

Haystack Butte, halfway point/lunch stop

all the seats at this restaurant have a nice view

always looking for a handout

Haystack Butte in the rearview mirror

latest model for the Great Northern Railway

reminder of the '67 fire

more critter

spotted a number of golden eagles soaring along the aretes

can’t believe the bear hadn’t cleaned these out yet

our digs for the night

sunset

and moonrise (Harvest)

Dawn’s crack; looks like the weather they were calling for on the East slope’s coming a bit early

.9 up to the Pass then it’s all downhill to Many Glacier

see you next year, Granite

at the Divide

and over to the East side

what’s left of Swiftcurrent Glacier

down into the valley; lots of goats up in the rocks but no bighorns in the scree

Bullhead Lake

Swiftcurrent Creek between Bullhead and Red Rock Lakes

Mt. Wilbur

clouds rolled in and that was that, picturewise; they had 7" of snow up on the passes that night - good timing on our part

Scott
