I would think that bait fishermen are at far greater risk since they are more or less chumming with their natural bait. There is a silver lining to most situations :). 8T 
That’s actually been a problem for decades. It’s been documented that a species of catfish that can exceed 8’ long has developed a taste for people and not infrequently take children and smaller women bathing in and downstream from (I think) New Dehli.
