Hello,
Just recently I attended a fly fishing show where I had the opportunity to try on the new Korkers Chrome and Metalhead wading boots, as well as the Simms Boots with the BOA system.
Trying them on and walking around, all the boots felt awesome. I really liked the BOA laces and thought they were pretty unique and comfortable to put on and off.
MY questions are, does anyone here have real life experience with these boots? Anyone have problems with the interchangeable soles? Anyone have problems with the BOA laces under any conditions? I use wading boots in both salt and fresh, so anyone have problems with corrosion on the laces or anything like that?
If you are in waters that have a lot of silt and sand, the BOAs do not perform well. They get filled with sediment and can be tough to work. Korkers sent me new ratchets when I contacted them about that. After three years, one of the cables broke. Easy enough to replace but useless until you get a new cable.
Toughest, longest lasting upper I’ve ever had. Almost 400 days of use and they barely look used (except for the cable).
I’ve never had a sole come completely out but I have had them have parts that pull out. 99% of the time there’s no issue.
