wader bag

Can someone recommend a reasonable priced wader bag that has a dressing mat and a dry area?

I use a rubbermaid tub with lid and a small piece of carpet sample. Not a wader bag, but certainly just as effective and more room for extra clothes and such.

These are the idle thoughts that posses a man’s mind when he’s not able to fish.

Wal-Mart has one. I have 3 of them. Two for me, and one for my wife.

I think wal-Mart should be a sponsor on FAOL…

Hi Scotte303,

I have a Fishpond bag that I use. It has a large area for my gear and the waders go in a seperate compartment under the main part. I dislike this system because when you have the top part filled with gear it is difficult to put the waders in after use. I would much prefer a single bag for each my gear and waders. The bag is nice for trips because you can put everything in one bag. I just don’t put the waders back into their compartment until I’m leaving for good.

I saw a nice bag in acatalog that was inexpensive where you stand in the middle of the bag take your waders off then sinch up the bag with a draw cord, it was a great idea.

Steve.

Hodgman makes one that I really like and it only costs around 30 bucks

I have one of the single compartment wader bags that everyone sells for $15-25 [bought it in the late 80’s, I think] and a piece of carpet I bought from Home Depot’s remant pile for $2-3. However, the best part of my kit is, I think, the small folding camp stool!!

Probably a dumb question, but why do you need a changing mat???

I’m with Satchel. In fact, for long trips, instead of a suitcase, I use one large, clear, plastic bin with a lid (Container Store) for clothing, reels and fly boxes, toiletries, and maybe even a potable or two. I use a smaller squarer one for wading shoes, waders, and a cheap rolled-up door mat. Together they keep things organized, you can see through them to find stuff, and they are waterproof.

The changing mat is so that you are not standing on stones, glass or who knows what. Waders with stocking feet really need a good place to stand on.

I’ve got one that I got from Cabela’s for around $60, I think. It works well. It has the mat inside too.

I also use one from Cabelas. I got the smaller one so I can use it to carry on airlines when I travel to fish. It has room for my waders, boots, fleece, long underwear, hat gloves, etc. It also has the mat that pulls out of the wet compartment and straps on the outside to cinch my double rod case to. It is listed at $49.95.

Thanks for all your replies, I went with one from LL Bean for $50. I also use a milk crate but when traveling back and forth when friends drive, it saves on room.
Thanks again,
Scott

take a child hunting and fihing

I have one from Orvis, I love it. The bag has mesh on the sides so the waders can dry if you put them in the bag wet.
