The same reason I grow thorny cactus and succulents instead of pretty, long-lasting flowers that are easy for anyone to grow?

I’m much more excited about getting one flower like this that lasts only 16 hours and happens only once a year than growing buckets of geraniums, pertunias, and other ‘easy’ flowers that bloom all year. It’s an Echinopsis Chamaecerius, AKA ‘peanut cactus.’

Nice plant! I like nice & different plants, but if I plant 'em, they’re goners. Absolutely NO green thumb on this Irishman! I envy those of you able to nurture a plant. However, I have had highly successful patches of dandelions & crabgrass! Do those count?

I have a green thumb, actually two of them… on my wife’s hands. She tells me what to do and where if she needs help and I do it. They payoff is worth it.
