Gloucesterman,
I have had my heart set on a Dyna-King Baracuda for several years. The regal is a wonderful vise and I have had it for 5 years or so and have tied several 1000 flies on it with no trouble. I tie for a few fly shops and individuals and the rotary feature on the dyna king when winding hackle and tinsel should increase my speed. When deciding on a new rotary vise, I looked at the regal revolution and did not like the horizontal vise position when using the rotary feature, though, I love the ease of hook positioning. Next, I looked at the renzetti and in my opinion was not made as tough as the cuda.
Thanks for the note, I’m considering the HMH standard myself. I learned on a straight line type of vise (Thompson 360) and like the fact that the HMH is similar… I still have the old Thompson and got new midge jaws for it and will use it for a backup or gift to my daughter…
Dan
The HMH is another great vise. Depending on how much you want to spend, the Kingfisher is a good straight line vise for about half the price tag of the HMH.
